For My Generation

No regulations stop us
No legislation blocks us
We try to find a higher way
Or a bigger play
Anything to get us through the day
Or we burn in our hatred and rage
And we know something’s wrong with the world
And we long to try to fix it
But this ain’t our father’s battle
It’s the one that burns inside of us everyday
It’s the reason for knife fights, and girls lies, about feeling fine
It’s fueled by the flip-offs and road rage
The cuss-outs and wasted days
And silence in between
Sometimes it ends with a bullet in the brain
Obama and Bush
Clinton and McCain
Say they got the answer to the problem
But they don’t know what they face
It’s in who we are, not in what we do
In the rage that rages on between me and you
So don’t find yourself a new political campaign
Cause it just fuels our hate, if we let it get away
So find something real
Some higher ideal
Trust in a God
Follow more than what you feel
Open your eyes, you know I say what’s true
Do something to change or it’ll be the end of you
